So somewhere between 1990 and 2012 pinatas changed. What once was paper-mache has now become corrugated cardboard. So needless to say the 5 year olds swinging a bat at this pinata took quite a while to destroy it. My wife started out using the traditional blindfolding, but once we realized this thing could take some abuse, we dropped the blindfold. Actually in the end it was quite funny to see them taking turns beating the snot out of it trying to get to the goodies to no avail. It took way more work for them to get it open than it should have been and it nearly brought some to tears due failing to break it open. So while the pinata is amazingly cute, any future parent of kids under 10 years of age using this pinata, you might want to take a box knife to it in few key inconspicuous areas to lower the sheer strength needed to cause it to open up.
